Two years after Hurricane Helene brought historic devastation to Western North Carolina, our community will come together to remember what was lost, recognize how far we have come, and celebrate the strength of the people who continue to rebuild.

Join us Sunday, September 27, 2026, from 2:00–6:00 PM at Bailey Square, 2 Town Square in Burnsville for Remember. Recover., commemorating the two-year anniversary of Hurricane Helene. The afternoon will feature live music from Lesa Autrey Band and Abby Bryant, a special presentation from the crew of Scars on the Mountain and the Mountain Heritage High School CTE Program, guest speakers, food trucks, and other activities.

Helene changed Western North Carolina forever, but it also revealed the extraordinary strength of our mountain communities, neighbors helping neighbors, first responders and volunteers working side by side, and people from across the region coming together when they were needed most. This gathering is an opportunity to remember, reconnect, and recognize the resilience that continues to carry Western North Carolina forward.
