4/29 Burnsville Metric

The Annual Burnsville Metric bike ride will be held Saturday April 28th with registration and packet pickup from 7:15am-8:45am at the Burnsville Town Center.  Ride begins promptly at 9:00am.  At 60.7 miles, the Burnsville Metric is a great way to start off your cycling season. It is casual but well-supported and comprises some of the flattest, most scenic roads in Yancey and Mitchell counties.

There is still a small portion of road construction to be aware of just after the third rest stop. The affected section of US-19E is between NC-80 North & NC-80 South, and impacts less than 2 miles of the Metric route. Please be extra cautious in this area. We will have extra signage there to increase driver awareness.

New this year: a 43 mile option with one rest stop and our ever-helpful SAG support. Ham radio communication provided by MARC (Mayland Amateur Radio Club)

Helmets are required. All riders must sign the waiver; riders under 18 must have a parent co-sign the waiver. All riders must obey rules of the road – we are sharing these roads with motorists.

Early registration is available for $45. For more information call the YanceyBurnsville Chamber of Commerce at 828-682-7413 and speak to Ginger Johnson or email ginger@yanceychamber.com.
